New Community Theatre Partnership
New Partnership Opens for Local Community Theatre
Main Stage Community Theatre (MSCT) is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Sea Glass Stage Company!
“Envisioning a safe place for players to play, where they can be part of something bigger than themselves” is the heart of MSCT’s vision statement. This exciting venture benefits both organizations as they align their passions to build a thriving arts community in the Lowcountry.
Founded by Mark Erickson, a former MSCT board member, Sea Glass Stage Company recently finalized a long-term home in the Coligny Theatre on the south end of Hilton Head Island, announcing the cast for their first production, Tick Tick Boom!
In partnership with Sea Glass Stage Company, MSCT will produce annual shows at the Coligny Theatre for the next three years. “This collaboration is a total win-win and further helps our arts community to bring even more opportunities for creativity and diversity,” says Erickson. The three-year partnership includes providing space for multiple MSCT shows at Coligny Theatre in addition to Sea Glass’s production schedule. MSCT also invested substantially in upgrading Coligny Theatre’s A/V/L infrastructure.
Daniel Cort, MSCT's vice chairman, shared the collective excitement, emphasizing the importance of this collaboration. "We’re all super excited and feel this is a story worth sharing with the community.”
The impact of this partnership extends beyond traditional theatre productions by allowing Sea Glass to provide a platform for a variety of show content, such as comedy shows, album releases, theatre dinner packages, corporate entertainment, and summer family nights featuring movies and karaoke.
While this venture with Sea Glass increases MSCT’s impact, it is also a strategic investment towards their vision of providing “a gathering place for the community to connect and celebrate around great storytelling.” Speaking from experience, Cort acknowledged that starting a new artistic venture can be challenging: “Sea Glass has done a great launch campaign, but initial support donations have been slow, so we’re reaching out to our audience for support.”
Stay tuned for upcoming announcements regarding MSCT’s 2024 shows in the coming weeks, including productions at Main Street Theatre, Sea Hawk Theatre (Hilton Head High School), and Coligny Theatre!
